Football 2019: Week Twelve

After an open date last Saturday, Texas A&M (6-3) goes back to work at Kyle Field against South Carolina. The game is being shown at 6:30 PM on the SEC Network, and I'll try to watch it since it may A&M's last shot at a win before the 2020 season begins. The Gamecocks (4-6) are a 10.5 point underdog, and oddly enough, are the only visiting team in the SEC that isn't a road favorite tomorrow:
  • Alabama favored by 20 points at Mississippi State
  • Florida favored by 6.5 points at Missouri
  • Georgia favored by 2.5 points at Auburn
  • Kentucky favored by 9.5 points at Vanderbilt
  • LSU favored by 20 points at Ole Miss
So what are the expectations for the Aggies in their quest for a 7th win? College Football News believes that A&M plays conservative football better than South Carolina does, and should therefore prevail 38-21. That would be nice.

In Texas A&M's old conference, the Big 12 Minus Two (aka the Big Dumpster Fire), the hierarchy has been upended after Texas U was beaten by TCU and Oklahoma lost to Kansas State. The Big Enchilada in the BDF is now unbeaten Baylor (9-0). Oklahoma is expected to pop BU's bubble with a 37-34 win tomorrow. Meanwhile, CFN thinks Iowa State will hand Texas U a 38-34 loss to go with the other three Ls on their record.

Update 11:27 PM Saturday:  I gave up on the A&M game because it got off to a sluggish start, so I missed the 4th quarter fireworks that ended with a 30-6 Aggie win. In the BDF, the Sooners came from behind to beat Baylor 34-31, and Iowa State edged the longhorns 23-21 (making Texas U a mediocre 6-4 overall).
