Football 2015: Week Eleven

The college football season is down to three games for most teams, and Texas A&M is limping toward the finish line. The offense can't score, the defense is vulnerable to being gashed on big plays, and the special teams are inconsistent. I've lost confidence in the coaching staff since they can't seem to have their players ready to perform on Saturdays.

With that in mind, the Aggies finish their non-conference schedule at 6:00 PM against Western Carolina, also 6-3. This could be A&M's last chance to win in 2015, since Vanderbilt might not be the pushover I expected next week. The game will be televised on ESPN-U, and Bleacher Report forecasts a 51-16 win for TAMU.

UPDATE 7:48 PM SATURDAY: There's nothing to be gained by beating Western Carolina, but there's a lot to lose by not beating them. The Aggies are ahead at half time 21-14, but haven't been able to demonstrate dominance at any point in the first two quarters. This looks like a game that could go down to the wire, which would be really unfortunate.

UPDATE 9:33 PM SATURDAY: The final score was 41-17, and A&M played better on offense and defense in the second half. Next up: Vanderbilt, which will be a tougher match than this game was.

Other TV games that could be interesting:

Georgia (6-3) at Auburn (5-4) at 11:00 AM on CBS. Bleacher Report prediction: Auburn wins 27-23. UPDATE: Georgia won 20-13, which suits me fine.

Florida (8-1) at South Carolina (3-6) at 11:00 AM on ESPN. Bleacher Report prediction: Florida wins 24-17. UPDATE: Florida won 24-14.

Alabama (8-1) at Mississippi State (7-2) in the 2:30 PM showcase game on CBS. Bleacher Report prediction: Alabama wins 30-20. UPDATE: Alabama demolished Mississippi State 31-6 on the road.

Kentucky (4-5) at Vanderbilt (3-6) at 3:00 PM on SEC. Bleacher Report prediction: Vanderbilt wins a defensive struggle 16-13. UPDATE: The Commodores face the Aggies after winning 21-17 today.

Arkansas (5-4) at LSU (7-1) at 6:15 PM on ESPN. Bleacher Report prediction: LSU squeaks out a 34-30 win. UPDATE: Arkansas outmuscled LSU and led the game most of the way, finally wrapping up a 31-14 victory.

Oklahoma (8-1) at Baylor (8-0) at 7:00 PM on ABC. Somehow, the Sooners puked up a loss to the stronghorns last month. Baylor is ranked in the top five even though they haven't played anybody good yet. I hate both of these teams, so it's a shame one will win tomorrow. Bleacher Report prediction: The Bears hold on to win a 40-31 shootout. UPDATE: No soup for you, Baylor. The Sooners rolled into Waco and rolled out with a 44-34 win over the fucking Bears. So long to an unbeaten season and dreams of national championships.
