Another open date for Texas A&M tomorrow, and the TV games leave a lot to be desired:
Added 6:44 PM Saturday: Oklahoma State gave Mack a 38-13 ass-whipping in Austin. I don't like OSU, but I don't hate them quite as much as I hate the longhorns. The best game of the afternoon was Georgia @ Auburn, featuring one of the wildest 4th quarters I've seen in all my years watching college football. Auburn dominated the first three quarters, and was ahead by 20 points early in the fourth. Georgia mounted a comeback and gained the lead at 38-37 with under two minutes remaining. Auburn was facing 4th down and 18 with about 30 seconds left when the miracle play occurred. The quarterback heaved a long pass into coverage, and two Georgia DBs were in position to knock the ball down and end the game. The pass was just short of the intended receiver, but the defenders deflected the ball downfield. The receiver continued running his route, saw the ball headed toward him, juggled it, then caught the ball in stride and ran for the winning score. That play will be shown repeatedly on every highlight show this weekend, and Auburn won 43-38 to stay alive in their quest for the West. An amazing game, as wild as any A&M game in the Manziel era.
The Iron Bowl between Auburn and Alabama will be worth watching this season for the first time in several years.
The Auburn Hail Mary:
- Oklahoma State (favored by a FG) at Texas. College Football News predicts Okie State ends Mack's winning streak 40-34.
- Georgia at Auburn (favored by 3.5 points). CFN predicts Georgia wins a mild upset 34-30.
- Florida at South Carolina (favored by 13.5 points). CFN says Gamecocks 24-13.
