Now departing

The news in college football yesterday was that Cam Newton of Auburn won the Heisman Trophy. No big surprise there. The other news on ESPN last night was that Will Muschamp is leaving Austin to replace Urban Meyer at Florida. Since he was hired at Texas with at least a verbal understanding that he'd replace The Big Mack when the time came, this sudden departure has things stirred up around the forty acres. I hope this is a case of a rat deserting a sinking sip, but that may be an overstatement. There are also rumors that Muschamp may try to lure Major Applewhite to UF by offering the OC position. Among orangebloods, Applewhite has the same stature that Gary Kubiak enjoys among TAMU fans, so Muschamp stealing him away would be pouring salt in the wound.
