Football 2020: COVID Version Week 4

Mike Leach coached at Texas Tech for ten seasons (2000-2009), and was Texas A&M's nemesis in the Big 12 conference. His record against the Aggies was 7-3, and three A&M coaches (Slocum, Franchione, and Sherman) each managed to beat Leach and the Red Raiders once. Some of the seven losses were close (48-47 in 2002) and some were blowouts (56-17 in 2005), but all of them were painful.

The world has changed in many ways since the last time Mike Leach coached against a Texas A&M head coach, but he gets another opportunity tomorrow (at 3:00 on ESPN) as head man at Mississippi State. After defeating Florida, the Aggies are a 6.5 point road favorite against MSU (1-2), a team with turnover problems. College Football News predicts that A&M will win 34-28. I hope they will, because losing to Leach makes me puke.

Update 4:39 PM: Texas A&M is leading 14-0 at the half. It could've been 28-0 if A&M wasn't having long gains called back because of penalties.

Update 6:44 PM: Jimbo leaned heavily on his defense and an effective running game today, and heads home with a 28-14 win. It's hard to figure out which SEC teams are the good ones and which are the bad ones. Alabama is one of the good ones, but LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, and Florida may not be the hot stuff I thought they were. Anyway, fuck the state of Mississippi and Mike Leach.

  1. Have to (especially) agree with your last sentence for more reasons than football...but that's a good start.
