Texas A&M has been playing The Ugly, The Bad and The Good this season, with an ugly win against Vanderbilt, a bad beating by Alabama, followed by two good wins against Florida and Mississippi State. This week is an open date, to be followed next Saturday by the annual Arkansas game.
In the absence of an Aggie game, I'll probably skip football this weekend. If I'm bored, I may watch one of the SEC games that involve future A&M opponents. The first one will be at 11:00 AM on the SEC Network. Auburn (2-2) plays at Ole Miss (1-3) and is favored by a field goal. College Football News expects Auburn to win 34-30.
The CBS showcase game at 2:30 PM has Alabama (4-0) at Tennessee (2-2) as a three-touchdown favorite. CFN predicts a 40-20 loss for the Volunteers, and I'll need to be desperate to waste time on this bloodbath.
Finally, the 6:00 PM game on ESPN has South Carolina (2-2) at LSU (1-2). The defending national champs are off to a rough start, but are still a TD favorite over the Gamecocks. CFN forecasts an upset, with LSU getting edged 35-30.
Update 12:39 Sunday: Alabama bulldozed Tennessee 48-17, Auburn edged Ole Miss 35-28, and LSU got well against South Carolina 52-24.
