Football 2015: Week 13

Thanksgiving weekend is when many of the traditional rivalry games are played, and Saturday offers a full day of games that could be interesting. On Thursday, the strong horns hosted their new turkey day opponent, Texas Tech, and lost 48-45. That loss makes it practically impossible for the strong horns to qualify for a bowl game. Friday night, the church schools in the Big WTF bumped heads in the rain (TCU at Baylor), with the Christians beating the Baptists 28-21 in two OTs. Baylor is now officially out of any national championship plans.

The Bleacher Report overview of Saturday's rivalry games:
  • Ohio State (10-1) at Michigan (9-2). Prediction: Michigan wins 23-20. UPDATE: Ohio State owns Michigan, won 42-13.
  • Alabama (10-1) at Auburn (6-5). Prediction: Tide rolls 41-21. UPDATE: Alabama took care of business like always with a 29-13 victory.
  • UCLA (8-3) at USC (7-4). Prediction: USC barely wins 30-27. UPDATE: Southern Cal won more easily than predicted (40-21).
  • Ole Miss (8-3) at Mississippi State (8-3). Prediction: Bulldogs win a shootout 41-34. UPDATE: This shootout went to Ole Miss 38-27.
  • Notre Dame (10-1) at Stanford (9-2). Not a traditional rivalry, but still a big game with championship ramifications. Prediction: Cardinal 34-24. UPDATE: Stanford edged the Irish 38-36.
  • Florida State (9-2) at Florida (10-1). Prediction: Gators 21-19. UPDATE: Florida State manhandled Florida 27-2.
  • Texas A&M (8-3) at LSU (7-3). Will LSU fire Les Miles? He owns Kevin Sumlin. Prediction: Les gets fourth straight win over Kevin 30-24.
  • Oklahoma (10-1) at Oklahoma State (10-1). The Sooners are in the national championship picture again. Prediction: Sooners win 40-37. UPDATE: The Sooners lost to the stronghorns, but prove they're still the alpha males in the BDF with a 58-23 stomping of Okie State.
UPDATE 12:44 AM SUNDAY 29 NOVEMBER: It was no surprise that Texas A&M's game against LSU was unbearably rotten and that I quit in the fourth quarter. The final score was 19-7, and like many other games this season, the defense played well enough to win. Unfortunately, the offense stayed bogged down in the mud hole of incompetence where it was trapped early in the Alabama debacle. Goddamn it, it's embarrassing to watch this shit. I hope heads roll. And while you're at it, get rid of those fucking black uniforms.

This was one of the few seasons when both Auburn and LSU were vulnerable, and A&M still found ways to lose to both of them. With effective coaching, this might have been a 10-2 season I could feel good about. Opportunities don't come along too often in the SEC West. When they do, you have to take advantage of them. Instead, Sumlin wasted two great chances.

The top teams in the SEC West take one look at Texas A&M and say, "There's no fuckin' way we're losing to those dipshits." Then they proceed to kick ass and take names.
