Things begin to get tougher for Texas A&M starting tomorrow when SEC West rival Auburn (3-0) visits Kyle Field as an underdog (8 1/2 points). The game is supposed to start at 11:00 AM CT on ESPN, but two A&M games have had delayed kickoffs due to weather. The Aggies coasted in games against lesser opponents, but got a thumping at Miami in the second game. Auburn has typically been a problem for A&M, especially in SEC games played at Kyle Field (four consecutive home losses from 2013-2019), although Jimbo did win the 2021 game at home.
College Football News predicts the Aggies will cover the spread with a 30-21 win. A game like that would be fun to watch, but I'm not confident that A&M can provide one.
Update 12:50 PM Saturday: Either both defenses are exceptionally good or both offenses are equally mediocre. The Aggies are ahead 6-3 at the half, and were up 6-0 until Auburn made a long FG with ten seconds left in the second quarter.
Final update 2:41 PM: The Aggies got better on both offense and defense in the second half even though Max Johnson replaced Weigman at QB. The final score was 27-10, and Auburn's only score came on the long return of a recovered Aggie fumble.
