FOOTBALL 2022: Post-Season, First Week

The regular season is over for a number of teams that will still be playing meaningful games for a bit longer. Texas A&M, despite a quality win against LSU last Saturday, won't be among them at 5-7. For the Aggies, the 2022 season is over and done. What's left for Jimbo is watching the transfer portal to see who's in there. So far, according to the local TV station, twelve players have announced their desire to move on, including one five-star recruit (Denver Harris, DB 2022) and six four-star recruits (Tunmise Adeleye, DE 2021, Brian George, CB 2020, Ish Harris, LB 2022, L.J. Johnson, RB 2021, Elijah Jeudy, DL 2021, and Haynes King, QB 2020). The others are three-star recruits or less. The transfer of Haynes King was fairly predictable, since he got plenty of playing time with few positive results.

Tomorrow is championship Saturday for four major conferences:

  • SEC: Georgia (12-0) vs LSU (9-3) on CBS at 3:00 PM.
  • BIG 12: TCU (12-0) vs Kansas State (9-3) on ABC at 11:00 AM
  • BIG TEN: Michigan (12-0) vs Purdue (9-3)
  • ACC: Clemson (10-2) vs North Carolina (9-3)

College Football News predicts the outcomes as follows:

  • Georgia favored by 18.5 points beats LSU 37-16
  • TCU favored by 2.5 points beats Kansas State 34-31
  • Michigan favored by 16.5 points beats Purdue 34-17
  • Clemson favored by 7.5 points beats North Carolina 44-34
At the moment, I expect to watch TCU vs K-State in the early game, then see if Georgia can give LSU another ass-whippin' in the afternoon game. I don't like Georgia and I hate LSU, TCU and KSU, so odds are good that I'll enjoy seeing somebody get beat.
