FOOTBALL 2022: Twelfth Week

The season is down to two games for Texas A&M, and Saturday at 11:00 AM the Aggies will have one final opportunity to win a home game. The opponent will be the University of Massachusetts (U Mass), and A&M is a heavy (32 1/2 point) favorite against an FBS independent with a 1-9 record. This may be as close to football nothingness as A&M has come in years. The good news for Jimbo is that U Mass is nowhere near as tough as Appalachian State, so his team has a chance to run up the score in a winning effort. Yeah, BFD. College Football News thinks A&M can cover the spread with a 41-3 win.

I haven't seen four full quarters of any Aggie game (except Alabama) all season, and I need to contemplate whether the chance of one more W offsets the time it'll take to watch this mess.

Among current and former students, and hardcore tee shirt fans, watching the Aggies is tedious and discouraging. Among the other SEC schools (and much of the rest of the college football world), A&M football is a comedy of errors, and often laughable.

Added 10:01 AM Saturday: Forecast for today calls for high temperature of 42 degrees, wind at 10-15 mph, and about 0.5 '' of steady rain until midnight. Weather's not conducive to outdoor activity, so I suppose I'll watch football games on TV all day.

Added 3:22 PM: Thanks to the live stream online, I saw as much of this game as I needed to see. It was no blowout at 20-3, but gets Jimbo to four wins and should allow him to match the worst season records of Franchione and Sherman. An upset win against LSU seems like an impossible dream.
