FOOTBALL 2021: COVID Version Week 11

For a game that A&M won by 17 points, the Auburn game was too tense for too long. The Aggie offense struggled to get four field goals, with promising drives ended by penalties or a turnover. Fortunately, the defense scored a touchdown itself, and held Auburn to one FG.

Things probably won't get much easier tomorrow. A&M (7-2) travels to Ole Miss (7-2) for a 6:00 PM game on ESPN, and is favored by a mere 2.5 points. As a member of the SEC West, A&M is 5-3 against Ole Miss (the 2020 game was cancelled). This season, Ole Miss features one of the better offenses in the conference, making tomorrow's game potentially the toughest one of three remaining on the A&M schedule.

College Football News predicts that Ole Miss will score more than Auburn did, but the Aggies will use their advantage on defense, and ball control on offense, to escape with a 34-27 victory.

Update 11:18 PM Saturday: I'll usually watch an A&M football game until the Aggies are behind by fourteen points. Tonight, I pulled the plug at 13-0 in the second quarter, since what I was seeing was the proverbial exercise in futility. The offense was impotent, and even the defense looked vulnerable. Final score was Ole Miss 29, Aggies 19. This has been a disappointing season.

Other interesting outcomes today include Arkansas beating LSU, Baylor beating OU, and Kansas beating Texas U in overtime at Austin.
