Texas A&M has played Auburn eight times since leaving the Big 12 for the SEC West in 2012. The first game, in Johnny Manziel's debut season, was a 63-21 blowout win on the road for the Aggies. Since that impressive start, A&M has gone 2-5 against Auburn, with a dismal 0-4 record at Kyle Field. All three of A&M's wins have come in games at Auburn.
Since the Aggies aren't able to beat Auburn at home, it may be fortunate that the 2020 game tomorrow will be at Auburn (ESPN at 11:00 AM). When the season began, I penciled this one in as a loss for A&M. Since then, Auburn has compiled a 5-3 record, with losses to Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama. The Aggies are a seven-point road favorite, although Kellen Mond and the offense struggled in the rain against LSU last week. On the other hand, the A&M defense has been fairly formidable in every game other than the stomping at Alabama in Week Two. College Football News thinks the Aggie defense should be the difference in tomorrow's game.
The CFN prediction: A&M 26 Auburn 23.
Update Saturday 12:40 PM: Texas A&M leads 14-10 at half. The defense allowed one long scoring drive that gave Auburn a temporary 10-7 lead, and the offense let one promising drive fizzle out with a missed FG. Otherwise, A&M has looked good.
Final update 2:12 PM: Auburn scored 10 unanswered points on their first two 2nd half possessions to lead 20-14. Things weren't looking good for A&M, but the Aggies got things rolling again in the 4th quarter (offense/defense/special teams) to produce another win on Auburn's home field, 31-20.
