Football 2015: National Championship

Tonight, the 2016 college football season officially ends with the national championship game between Alabama and Clemson. The Tide got to this game by crushing Michigan State, and Clemson by thumping Oklahoma. Alabama is favored by a touchdown. Clemson is unbeaten so far, and is up against the law of averages. It wouldn't bother me to see Clemson win, although my gut feeling is that Alabama has too much strength defensively for Clemson to overcome. Regardless of which team wins, I hope it's a close game all the way, maybe even going into OT.

Update 11:22 PM on 11 January: Alabama won 45-40, thanks to a pair of big plays on special teams (an onside kick recovery and a kickoff returned for a touchdown). I would have preferred that Clemson won, but this was a tough, hard-fought game that held my interest from beginning to end. It's a real pleasure to watch two teams that have excellent coaches and players slugging it out.
