FOOTBALL 2022: Seventh Week

The season is halfway over, and Texas A&M (3-3) will be idle tomorrow while the other SEC West teams will be trying to improve their W/L records.

It's just as well that A&M has an open date because last week's game was an even more frustrating loss than getting beaten at home by Appalachian State. Against Alabama, the Aggies wasted a fabulous opportunity to accomplish something they haven't done in a decade: beat the team ranked number one in a road game.

For A&M to have any hope of upsetting Alabama, the Tide would need to give 'em a lot of help, which was provided in the form of three turnovers, two missed field goals, and several major penalties that kept Aggie drives alive. On the game's final play, A&M's inability to move the ball 72 inches for the winning touchdown meant a 24-20 loss instead of a 27-24 win.

The bottom line: Aggie football is wearing my patience thin again this year, so I need a break. A road game at South Carolina next week? This looks like one of those years when every Aggie game is a tough one.
