I've been paying attention to Republicans fairly closely since Richard Nixon was elected, and it's obvious that the party has been going steadily downhill since Eisenhower left office. Every year, Republicans are worse than they were the year before. Even when the president is a (D), the (R)s find ways to stink up the place, and it's much, much worse when they hold both the White House and Congress.
Although they never stopped giving me reasons to despise them, I managed to hang on to the belief that when push came to shove, most Republicans would maintain their allegiance to the principles, values and institutions of traditional American democracy.
Then came Donnie Dump, whose allegiance is limited to himself, then Vladimir Putin, in that order. Though he was a rotten so-called precedent (sic), that pile of decayed meat was apparently an answered prayer for the goobers, gomers, yahoos, and crackers that consistently vote (R). Now, Republicans are mainly Trumplicans, and Putin's Russia looks better to them than the United States does. This is what happens when most voters cannot or will not take elections seriously enough.
