The 2020 regular season finishes up tomorrow when the Aggies (7-1) play at Tennessee (3-6) on ESPN (11:00 AM). This game was originally set for mid-November, but was rescheduled. The Ole Miss @ A&M game has been cancelled, so this will be a nine-game regular season.
Tennessee beat South Carolina, Missouri and Vanderbilt, but lost to Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn and Florida. The Aggies played all those teams except Missouri, and lost only to Alabama. That's probably why they are favored by 14 points on the road.
A&M has had a much better season than I expected after the first two games, with a decent shot at a seven-game winning streak. The Aggie offense has been built around an impressive running game, and according to College Football News, Tennessee's strength is defending against the run. Strength vs strength?
CFN predicts A&M 38 Tennessee 16.
Update 12:29 PM Saturday: Tennessee has been able to slow down A&M's rushing attack, but Kellen Mond is making up for that up with accurate passing. Texas A&M is ahead 24-13 at halftime.
Final update 2:15 PM: A&M made just enough mistakes to keep me nervous through the third quarter. One promising drive fizzled after good plays were erased by penalties. A second potential scoring drive ended when Mond's pass was intercepted in the end zone. In the fourth quarter, A&M was clearly the stronger team. The Aggies controlled the ball and the game, and won 34-13.
