Killin' time

Some idle thoughts posted as online comments~

Hillary Clinton~

Most of the so-called scandals involving Mrs Clinton have been cooked up and perpetuated by Republicans who fear her as a potential president. By and large, they amount to sparrow farts in a stiff wind

Like anyone who travels in the political realm, Mrs Clinton can be legitimately criticized. She isn't the monster portrayed by hysterical Republican males, and if she's ultimately the Democratic Party nominee in 2016, she will inevitably be the better choice against whichever hairball the GOP coughs up, especially if it's a tea party dreg like Rafael Cruz.

Rich people~

I love wealth and wish I had more of it myself. And I like rich people who use their wealth for purposes other than making themselves wealthier. And I especially like rich people who increase the wealth of those below them in the food chain.

From what I've seen, that makes me a typical Democrat.

Politics in general~

Republican politicians spend hours laughing among themselves at how easily conservative yahoos can be led down rabbit holes with code words and dog whistles. Rafael Cruz has turned milking hayseeds into an art form.

As long as federal, state and local tax revenues are sufficient to adequately fund government activity and public services, conservatives will bellyache about their unfair tax burden. I can't remember a time when this wasn't the case.

The legislature represents the (roughly) twenty percent of registered voters in Texas who voted for Republican candidates in last November's election. When the GOP is able to control state government with the support of less than twenty percent of the voting-age population, these are the consequences.
