Football 2012: Week Ten

College Football News predicts the Aggies will edge Mississippi State 31-27.

According to CFN, the line on the game is A&M minus seven. If the game is as close as the prediction, I think I'm in for a rough Saturday. Fortunately, it's an 11:00 AM start so I won't need to spend all day worrying about it.

Added 12:28 PM, Saturday: The Aggies are ahead 24-0 at the half, and would've been ahead more if a short FG attempt hadn't been blocked on the last play. Mississippi State is wearing all-white uniforms at home, which is apparently some kind of mind game intended to remind the Aggies of the so-called "snow bowl" defeat. The Aggies are wearing black uniforms I don't remember seeing before -- I'm not crazy about them, but the team has been very effective so far on offense and defense, with no turnovers and few penalties.

Added 1:29 PM: Aggies ahead 31-7 at end of 3rd quarter. Will the defense be able to protect a 24 point lead for fifteen minutes?

Added 2:11 PM: It's 38-13 with just under six minutes left. MSU scored, missed the two-point try. Aggies responded with one of their best TD drives of the day. It's starting to look like a W at this point.

Final score 38-13, and the Aggies finally get a benchmark win against a good SEC opponent. It wasn't as close as I expected.

Added 10:50 PM: In the other big game of the day, just ended, Alabama beat LSU 21-17. The great teams always find a way to win, and Alabama is a great team. The Aggies will have all they can handle next Saturday.
