The Republican Party has decided the best strategy is to circle their wagons and become as insular as possible. Demand ideological purity and the signing of loyalty oaths. Resist change at all costs and expel those who refuse to conform. Ignore the fact that fewer than 20 percent of Americans identify themselves as extremely conservative, and that 60 percent identify themselves as moderate to liberal.

Yeah, that ought to be a winner.
