Houston. Car Care Bowl. Halftime. Aggies 20, Northwestern 7.
If I hadn't spent so many hours watching the Aggies squander good halftime leads in the third quarter, I might be feeling pretty good right now. As it is, I'll reserve judgment for awhile.
Added 1:44 pm, same day: Beautiful sunshine, mild breeze, 64 degrees. At halftime I decided the weather was too perfect to stay indoors, and if I wanted to walk in ideal conditions, halftime of the game would be the time to do it. I'd miss most of the third quarter, but experience has shown the 3rd quarter of an A&M game is usually unwatchable anyway. When I came in, the quarter was nearly over and the Aggies had increased their lead by ten points to 30-7. Don't know how they got the TD and the field goal.
Added 2:33 pm, same day: Final score was Aggies 33, Northwestern 22. For a while it looked like A&M under Tim DeRuyter had shifted their point of collapse from the third quarter to the fourth, but Tannehill made a few great throws and his receivers made clutch catches to run the clock down and set up the FG that iced the win. Those were things we didn't see often enough in the regular season.
The next time I watch the Aggies play, they'll have a new coaching staff, a new quarterback, and will be competing in a new conference. As they say, it'll be a whole new ballgame.
