As Obama negotiates with the Republicans in Congress over the budget deal, it looks more and more like he's willing to hang the congressional Democrats out to dry. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he has an intelligent plan that will ultimately serve the best interests of the country, but he's making it harder to do that every day.
What looks like a real possibility is that Obama will blow the budget deal out his ass, giving the Republicans a cheap win, and his loyal supporters will desert him in droves. If that happens, we're fucked. I'm trying not to visualize the horror of President Rick Perry with strong GOP majorities in the House and Senate. God knows, the last time we played a hand like that things didn't work out too well.
