First domino falls

Colorado to the Pac-10. Followed tomorrow by Nebraska to the Big Ten, if the newspapers are accurate. I'm having a hard time seeing how the Big 12 can survive those two losses if it wants to remain a 12-team conference. Some people think Boise State could replace one of them, but who replaces the other ? Also rumors are firming up that Texas U, Oklahoma, OSU, Texas Tech, and TAMU will follow Colorado to the Pac-10. In the short term, that's a rough hand for the Aggies to play. They replace games with teams like Iowa State with games against teams like USC, UCLA, Washington, and the Arizona schools. And they would apparently still play the current Big 12 South teams (other than Baylor, the ONE team in the South they can normally beat).

That's the downside to the Pac-10 move for A&M. The upside is that it's better than the SEC, where the schedule would be an even tougher meatgrinder. The Arkansas game in Arlington and the bowl game against Georgia last December told me all I needed to know about TAMU as an SEC member.
