The Democrats are too disorganized to get much accomplished. They're delusional and are about to waste the opportunity of a lifetime by nominating a sure loser in the 2008 presidential race. Finally, they don't have the backbone to give Bush that hard slap upside the head that he needs and deserves.
As worthless as the Dems seem to be, they're still a lot better than the damned Republicans.
A front-page story in today's paper concerns a bill passed Wednesday night that will supposedly prevent the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) from hitting several million middle-class taxpayers next year. The idea is a good one, but the bill almost didn't make it through Congress. The Dems in the House wanted to offset the 50 billion in lost revenue by closing loopholes on offshore tax shelters, but the Repubs wouldn't have any part of that. They only supported the bill as long as there was no tax increase somewhere else.
The Repubs are like a drunken sailor in a Hong Kong whorehouse on Saturday night when it comes to throwing money around. They love to spend it, they just don't want to raise it. Individuals who manage their money the way Repubs in Congress do are politely referred to as irresponsible.
There's an old saying: People who behave like they have something to hide, do. This comes to mind because W's administration was told by the court that Secret Service logs regarding White House visitors are public records. For some reason, Bush wants to prevent access to information about who's been coming and going since 2001. Everything done secretly with no accountability ever, that's the way Bush likes it. The things this administration does in view of the public are so outrageous, it's really disturbing to think about what goes on behind closed doors.
