The GOP Agenda: Relevant Terms and Concepts

Definitions courtesy of Merriam-Webster, Dictionary.com, and Britannica.com

FASCISM:  A political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

OLIGARCHY:  A government in which a small group exercises control especially for corrupt and selfish purposes; a form of government in which all power is vested in a few persons or in a dominant class or clique; government by the few.

THEOCRACY:  Government by divine guidance or by officials who are regarded as divinely guided. In many theocracies, government leaders are members of the clergy, and the state’s legal system is based on religious law.

The Republicans (now officially the Donnie Party) are working on an answer to this central question: Is it even possible to have a unified system of government that combines all the best features of fascism, oligarchy, and theocracy?

We know that Donnie Dog Droppings and the Bannon crowd prefer fascism, with Donnie as the dictator. The Republicans in Congress, led by the Chinless Wonder and the Cheese Prince, advocate an American oligarchy [see the Tax Freedom for Billionaires bill]. Finally, the vast majority of GOP voters dream of the day when America will be a theocratic nation, with all secular laws replaced by Biblical law. These losers already see Donnie as the one chosen by god to accomplish that goal, and think GOP stands for God's Own Party. The Republicans who finance the party's operation want the limited oligarchy that's now in place substantially expanded, and don't want any conflicts with the Nazis, the KKK, or the religious lunatics cutting into the take.

So there's the GOP challenge for 2018: How to end America's dependence on democracy and elections so that the existing power structure becomes permanent, then designing and implementing a different system that the fascists, oligarchs and theocrats are all happy with.

We already know, based on years of experience, that whatever they come up with is going to be an unmitigated disaster. Republicans are no good at building things, only destroying them.
