Football 2015: Week Six

College football season is halfway over already? Where does the time go?

Texas A&M has an open date Saturday, so my day won't be structured around their kickoff time. There are a handful of TV games that I'll watch at least as long as they stay close.

Oklahoma vs Texas on ABC at 11:00 am. The stronghorns are having a rough season, with two blowout losses and two potential wins wasted with critical special teams fuckups. I hate both teams, but I'd prefer to see OU tear Texas a new hole, something along the lines of 63-6. Bleacher Report predicts a closer result (Oklahoma 37 Texas 24). UPDATE: Oklahoma has been exposed as just another rotten Big 12 pretender. The stronghorns win a 24-17 upset, and start thinking possible national championship.

LSU vs South Carolina: I understand bad weather has caused this game to be moved to Baton Rouge. Texas A&M plays both these teams later this season, so I'll watch awhile for scouting purposes. LSU is a 14 point favorite, and College Football News predicts they'll win 27-10. UPDATE: As expected, LSU whipped the Gamecocks 45-24.

Georgia at Tennessee on CBS at 2:30 PM. The SEC showcase game, with the Bulldogs a FG favorite. A&M hasn't played either team as an SEC member. The last time A&M played Georgia was in the 2009 Independence Bowl, and Georgia won 44-20. The last A&M game against Tennessee was in the 2005 Cotton Bowl, and it was also a blowout (the Vols won 38-7). The formula is no help based on those results, so I won't root for either team. Just want to see a good game. CFN is predicting a 27-23 dogfight, with Tennessee winning. UPDATE: Georgia lost its star RB (Nick Chubb), wasted a three TD lead, and lost to Tennessee 38-31. They're done.

Arkansas at Alabama on ESPN at 6:00 PM. The Razorbacks were good enough to dominate Texas A&M for most of three quarters, and bad enough to lose the game in overtime. Alabama is A&M's next opponent after the bye week. I already have an idea about how strong Arkansas is, so I want to see how well they measure up against Bama. The Crimson Tide is favored by 16.5 points, and CFN thinks they'll win by 20 (37-17). UPDATE: After trailing 7-3 at the half, Alabama used a big 4th quarter to beat Arkansas 27-14.
